This application implements the heat integration method as presented by Dr. Mahmoud El-Halwagi in the first edition of his textbook Sustainable Design Through Process Integration . I first learned about process integration in CHEN 425 at Texas A&M University, where I had the privilege of being of one of Dr. El-Halwagi's students.
For a quick overview of what process integration is, see these Wikipedia articles on process integration and pinch analysis .
To see how this app works, you can load up a saved process using the drop down menu, then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click "Integrate". One example process is from El-Halwagi's textbook, and the other is the process my team designed for my senior plant design project.
Note: this program uses a minimum temperature gradient of 10°F. Graphic styling is based on the graphics in the first edition of El-Halwagi's Sustainable Design Through Process Integration.
